the power was turned on this morning at spartacus books. the store looks so beautiful all lit up. so fucking beautiful. it seriously made my day! Amy came by to shop and i was able to briefly see Nico as well when she came to relieve me of my shift. we made plans to have tea tomorrow afternoon. i've missed that girl!

Clarissa and i did some shopping downtown this afternoon. we spent a&b sound gift certificates on two dvds: The Virgin Suicides and Empire Records. we also picked up the two latest issues of X-Men from Golden Age. i cannot wait to go back there on sunday for their supersale!

i gave up on trying to read my entire textbook by wednesday. i am going to read it chapter-by-chapter each week so that i will not overload and bore myself.

i cannot wait to be able to make some decent purchases. they will probably have to wait until the springtime. until then, i have ducttaped the bottom of my shoes and am settling for an answering machine that is older than some of the youth i work with. there will be many other afternoons dedicated to new shoes and pay-as-you-go cell phones.

xmas has come and gone and i survived it.

Clarissa was the perfect holiday companion. on xmas eve, we dressed up in our nicest clothes and went for swiss boca burgers and onion rings at denny's. then we returned home, baked chocolate chip cookies, watched It's a Wonderful Life, and danced around to the Bright Eyes xmas album. in the morning, i visited Emma, Zan, and Braeden, and then went to my mum's with Clarissa. my mum had put together stockings for the two of us and Konstantine. i got some mixing bowls, a spice rack, a collander, and crystal votive holders -- my mum knows me well for getting me kitchen supplies! and Konstantine got a homemade kitty treat kit with a fish shaped cookie cutter and a new food bowl. we watched Elf, ate tons of vegetarian xmas food, and played games with my brother and his wife. it was very sweet.

boxing day is going to be filled with cleaning, studying, and an evening visit to Lili's home. i have ten chapters to read in ten days. the rest of the week will be filled with work, some socializing, and a date on wednesday night.

hopefully i will be able to breathe again in 2007.

other cute additions to this post:

* the wb owns my soul
* Clarissa and i made new characters for our sims game which include the Weiner family from Welcome to the Dollhouse and Chad Michael Murray, who my character is dating
* we just finished watching season one of the gilmore girls *swoon*
* i finished my afghan and it is so comfy and snugglicious
* i hope to have everyone's xmas presents finished for valentine's day

that's all <3!

i've been avoiding writing an actual entry. i'm not exactly sure why. i'm alone at the apartment for the moment. my roommate is off at work and i just finished cleaning my room. i figured this would be a good time to update.

i have been working non-stop. it is great for my tuition and debts, but is wearing on my body. i have returned to taking naps -- today's was not even to deal with depression. i've been at the starbucks for over a month now and i am actually enjoying myself. the job is pretty simple. the people can be difficult at time though.

i took friday off and spent it with Clarissa. we went to value village and picked out some cute clothes for $5 and i picked up some yarn from lewiscraft for 40%. now i have enough stock to finish my afghan. we spent the evening running around metrotown, stalking pretty boys and daydreaming. then we met up with Jordan and watched Narnia -- which was fucking beautiful. it topped Lord of the Rings in a huge way for me. one word = magical.

somewhere inbetween my misadventures at work and avid crafting, i managed to make a cameo at Emma's xmas party. i was able to spend an hour with some sweet people and still make it to work at 7:30am this morning.

Jason brought me a very late xmas present -- SIMS. yes, Clarissa and i have entered the angsty world of SIMS which brings us joy during the hours that we cannot sleep. unfortunately, it has curbed out gilmore girls addiction.

that is about everything. now i will return to the world of organizing my life. hope to see a few of you out at unsweetened this tuesday night<3

Amanda and i both have spots reserved in the Counselling Youth course. i am going to pick up my textbook next week so i can read it over the break.

i have been making more time for myself lately. i have been doing less work for yq! and focussing more on crafting and reading. i need to reformat my gym schedule, as i've missed out on quite a bit of sessions due to a sore back last week. the silly thing is that i didn't realize how busy i really was until a cute boy mentioned it to me. that was when i realized that there are certain things worth making time for.

Unsweetened (and Outspoken) went REALLY well last night! Kim and Lisa B did a double feature, we had a really strong open mic lineup which included Ms Spelt and C.R. Avery, and i hosted drunkenly. i read some extracts from Dennis Cooper's upcoming novel The Sluts, which detailed the self-destruction of a male street worker through fictional reviews on a website. we made enough money to make up for the lack of money from last month and allowed me to buy all three of Lisa's chapbooks. and we threw the event at El Cocal as Zesty's had doublebooked for the night. luckily, we were given the green light to throw the rest of our events there as well!

Michael is moving out today, so today will be filled with housekeeping and preparing for Clarissa's arrival tomorrow. i am really excited!!! it is too bad that i will be working all day tomorrow, so i won't be here to fully welcome her.

i survived my opening training shifts. 5am the last two mornings. i just woke up from a well-deserved nap. the walk to work this morning was beautiful with the snow falling from the sky and sticking to the ground as it was still cold enough. now, the roads are covered with slush and it is not the same winter wonderland that had me dancing around and singing while all of you slept (except Mandy, who came in for a coffee :P)

i got my first piece of personal mail!!! (funny that i've been living here for seven months now) it was from my ohio boyfriend Dave, who went me a collection of pictures that i am going to craft into funky magnets. Dave is love<3

about school: two thirds of our class did not correctly complete the individual education plan. unfortnately, i was in that two-thirds. the prof, lovely as he is, will give us a chance to fix up our assignments. fortunately, my assignment just needs a paragraph-worth of words added to the text to make it perfect. aside from the omission of the evaluation process, he LOVED my plan, so i am happy.

tonight, Lili is going to cut and dye my hair and then we are unsweetening it up! i need to find something witty to read while hosting. i wonder how many of the dreamy boys that i invited will show up? ;)

mmmmm my potluck went deliciously wonderful <3 i made vegan potato salad for the first time, Fergie made lasagna, Clarissa and Jordan made a seven-layered dip, Stephanie and Sean made guacamole, Jen brought wine, and Kim and Devin brought cookies. it was nice to see people since i have been so swamped for the last two weeks. and watching Braeden try to ride my skateboard while chasing Konstantine was too adorable for words. i would like to have people over again near the end of december. by that time, Clarissa will be moved all in and this place will feel like home again.

this morning, i was called in for a shift at starbucks and then i did some work with yq! a few hours making drinks and a few hours orientating new board members. and i will be finished my starbucks training by the end of this week. i'm really excited. maybe, i will be able to handle having visitors by that point.

i hope to get my paper back tomorrow! i'm really excited to see what the prof thought of it.

i just finished watching an episode of the oc because i'm a geek like that. it was something to keep me awake while still in a zombie-like sleep. last night, i planned on going to bed early, but Lili, Karen, and i stayed late at Courtney's slumber party, at which i was the only person to do any slumbering. luckily, Carla came and rescued us from the world called Kitsilano. it was a fun evening, filled with girly movies, silly games, and Karen's hothothot geekiness. but i am prepping my body for monday's 5am shift, so i forced myself to wake up at 10am. tomorrow morning, i will be waking up at 8am, hitting the gym, and then smothering myself in non-profit goodness. i am missing out on a family dinner that night, but i need to be responsible.

i received my first paycheque from starbucks. as i was hired in the middle of a pay period, it was only for four shifts and quite small. i threw together a budget to pay off the overdue on my gas bill and keep my visa current, forcing me to wonder how much i will have to sacrifice next month in order to pay my tuition. maybe yq! will get a sugar-daddy-funder and they will be able to give me a nice advance to keep me in school. there is no way that i am taking next semester off though. i'd rather starve and not celebrate the holidays at all.

so i am decided to accept the nomination to run for the board of directors of the vancouver dyke march. it really will not bother me if i am not elected -- i am merely going to present my ideas to the membership and see if they will elect me. if they want bi/pan/trans inclusion in their events and decide to elect me, then i will make a loud voice for myself. if not, i might just try again next year. i honestly do not have any more room on my plate, but the pressure to run for a seat is too strong.

Mel came in for the last two hours and allowed her ocd to tear apart the storage room. it looks great now! and i got through so much paperwork and files. sunday is the orientation for the new board members. i am going to hit up the vancouver dyke march agm beforehand as a few of their members really want me to run for their board.
